Health Update Regarding COVID–19
In order to be proactive and help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Tuscaloosa community, we are cancelling all classes and closing the studio effective Monday, March 16.
We plan on resuming regular daily operating activity of all classes on Monday, April 6.
This will give us a time period of closure to prevent any spread of COVID-19;
We are taking this step as a precaution and to help stop the spread of this virus in our community;
We will follow the National and Local recommendations, and the website will be updated as needed during this time.
During this week of Spring Break travel, please consider all of the recommendations from the CDC and WHO regarding travel and sanitizing in order to contain this virus from spreading and to prevent further closures for schools and businesses in our communities. If you have plans to travel over this break, please research where you are traveling to and change plans as needed. Please consider that those around you may not be as healthy as you and that you could potentially expose someone else to the virus if you are exposed yourself.
Regarding our local public schools:
All K-12 public schools are closed until April 6;
Read the links on their websites to the WHO and CDC and follow guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19, or coronavirus.
Once we return to classes, we will continue the following measures moving forward. These measures include, but are not limited to:
Hand sanitizer pumps located at the front desk and organized distribution for all dancers and instructors;
Thorough hand washing by all instructors between classes;
Frequent sanitation of high-traffic areas including door handles, ballet barres, etc.;
Hand washing policies for all using our restrooms; and
Monitoring of dancers and guests that display symptoms of illness.
We would also appreciate your help to prevent the spread of illness by:
Monitoring you and your dancer and keeping her home if she has been coughing, sneezing, or had a fever within the last 24 hours;
Keeping you and your dancer home if anyone in your household has been exposed to COVID-19 or have recently traveled to countries identified by the CDC as having widespread sustained transmission of COVID-19;
Reinforcing frequent and thorough hand washing habits;
Reminding children to cover their mouths and noses with a tissue, and in the event of a cough of sneeze to go wash hands after doing so;
Discouraging the touching of eyes, nose and mouth.
Thank you for your patience during this time and we hope that these measures give you confidence that Druid City School of Ballet is proactively taking the necessary precautions at this time as a school and community. Please note that we will continue to monitor the situation and will notify our DCSB families as changes or updates occur.
